culebra 2012

The END TIMES Draw Near :
The Year MMXII Ano Domini is prophesied as The Beginning of the End...
.
I was asked by PILOT MAGAZINE to create a piece which speaks to this belief...

ayans believed in a Serpentine Deity, as did Buddhists, Hindus and countless other smaller, polytheistic tribes. I'm not hear to debate the foundation for their belief, rather I wish to comment on the commonality of the Serpentine Symbology. Below is a Calligraphic interpretation of transliterated Mayan Texts which speak about The End of Days. The sinuous form of the snake itself is evocative of many things - here in this piece I hope it evokes the unfolding narrative that is our progression through time.
Whether or not 2012 will be the end of us or not... Holler at me then and we'll see if I'm still Kickin'...

Peace Be With You †

youth blood

TROUBLE & BASS x JINDER x LEX
Artwork crafted for a classic track from young Nordic songstress JINDER.
A voice to sway the coldest of hearts, enveloped by design.

I'm fortunate to have friends like Patrick "The Captain" Rood and Luca "Drop The Lime" Venezia of venerable Brooklyn BASS Label TROUBLE & BASS. They invited me to design and craft the cover artwork for a young Nordic songstress by the name of JINDER.

One listen to her break-out track " YOUTH BLOOD " and I was hooked. Remixes provided by such BASS and CLUB LUMINARIES such as 12th Planet and BOK BOK only solidify this EP as a true classic.

I'm proud to have worked on this and to have worked with the TROUBLE & BASS camp. Wait for 2011 though, there's MUCH MORE IN STORE !!!! BROOKLYN, Let's GOOOOO !

damelo!

Video Title piece for DAMELO! by Mexicans With Guns
From Santeria, to Brujeria to Tipographia... This Bass is heavy in them streets.
Video Directed by my good friend Duey : System-D128.

Ripped from the pages of Mexican Smut-Comics, with a touch of Brujeria and Dirty South-of-the-Border BASS thrown in for good measure, this video short for Mexicans With Guns' track DAMELO! is a Post-Obama epic! Produced and Directed by MAD DECENT Video Creative Director : Duey FM (aka System D-128) this clip is nothing like you've ever seen before.

I was asked to create a Typographic Title Piece and treatment for the project. After a few bass-thumping bumps of the Track over some loud-speakers I was sold. Run the clip below for a taste of that MEXIDUB-STEP BASS! Let's GOOOOOO ( better yet, ¡Vámonos! )
