A few visual ruminations on the art of restraint: Kinbaku

inew and twine, rope and restraint... There is beauty in the simple security provided by the entanglement of cord and string. There is something symbolic about a form so simple yet so utilitarian. I was compelled to pay homage to the tradition of Ornamental Knotting and it's Japanese counterpart Shibari. To be fair, Shibari or Kinbaku refers to the ancient Japanese Art of Bondage, though it takes influence from the battlefield practices of Samurai and their skill in binding a captive enemy: SENJOYO.
